Engagement — Platform Due Diligence
Code & Co. provides AI & Tech Due Diligence to Partech Impact ahead of its investment in Breedr, the precision livestock platform giving every head of cattle a digital record that follows it from birth to the point of sale.
Breedr, the platform giving every cow a digital record that follows it from birth to the supermarket shelf, has announced it has raised $27 million in Series B funding led by Partech, through its impact fund, with participation from Latitude, the growth-stage fund of seed investor LocalGlobe, and Outsiders Fund, which led the company's Series A. The round takes total funding to $46.6 million and will be used to grow the team, bring more ranchers and farmers onto the platform and enhance the platform to capture more data points such as genomic data. Partech's Arnaud Minvielle and Latitude's Remus Brett will join Breedr's board.
Scope of work
Code & Co. reviewed Breedr's product suite, spanning livestock management, the data-verified marketplace, and embedded finance, with a focus on the value delivered to producers across the beef supply chain. The assessment covered the AI and machine learning capabilities underpinning the platform, the data foundations on which these models are trained and validated, and the product roadmap.
Code & Co. evaluated the technical architecture, including the applications, field data capture, and integrations with hardware and third-party data sources, together with infrastructure, scalability, and data security practices. Engineering organization, development processes, and the team's capacity to deliver the roadmap were analyzed as part of the engagement.
About Breedr
Led by founder and CEO Ian Wheal, Breedr is a precision livestock platform digitizing the global beef supply chain. The solution combines a livestock management app, an AI-powered data-verified marketplace, and an embedded cattle finance fund, tracking individual animal data (including weight, health, and family history) from birth to processing to optimize growth and points of sale. With more than 1.3 billion cattle in the world, Breedr's ambition is to become the system of record for every major livestock-producing region, producing higher quality, more sustainable beef. More than 2 million cattle are already on the platform, with close to $500 million of livestock transacted this year, and customers range from family ranches to operations handling more than 100,000 cattle a year. Founded in the U.K. in 2018 by Ian Wheal, Breedr is now headquartered in Austin, Texas. The company operates connected supply chains across the U.S., United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand and Europe. To learn more, visit breedr.co.
